Northern Vac Services has proudly been serving Fort St. John and surrounding communities since 1968. We are expanding our industrial transportation team. Are you a qualified and experienced Class 1 or Class 3 operator certified in British Columbia willing to work full-time? We are also seeking Class 1 Pickers and Swampers. Ideal applicants will have oilfield experience. Pre-employment drug testing within 30 days of hire is required. Please provide references upon application. 

Our fleet includes operating a domestic waste truck (Vac experience preferred), hydrovacs, tri-axle combo vacs, tri-axle straight vacs, tri-axle pup, Super-B work, gravel trucks, mobile concrete mixers, 22-ton picker, tandem axle water trucks, tri-axle box trucks with quad wagons, and tri-axle end dumps.

Requirements for All Drivers
  • Ability to provide a driver’s abstract
  • Ability to show up fit for duty while on-call
  • Must have oilfield experience
  • Valid H2S Alive
  • Valid First-Aid Course
  • Completion of WHIMIS and TDG considered an asset
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with company maintenance policies
  • Follow company safety policy and report any safety incidents
  • Properly complete paperwork
  • Professional conduct, respecting the public, clients and environment
Class 1 Driver Requirements
Requirements
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Minimum 2 year experience on Vac Truck or Water Truck
  • Driver’s Competency Test with successful interview
Class 1 Picker Requirements
Requirements
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
  • Valid CraneSafe certificate, minimum 22 tonne knuckle boom
  • Minimum 2 year experience on Knuckle Boom/Crane
  • Driver’s Competency Test with successful interview
Class 3 Driver Requirements
Requirements
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Minimum 2 year experience on Vac Truck or Water Truck
  • Driver’s Competency Test with successful interview
Swamper
Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist company drivers preparing the trucks for daily duties
  • Assist company drivers with tasks while on the job site
  • Grease units, maintain cleanliness of trucks and shops
  • Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections as required and document and report any issues
  • Commit to maintaining safety as a top priority at all times
  • Previous Flat Deck, Roll Off and Front Lift experience is an asset
  • Safely operate truck-mounted hydraulic hoisting devices
  • Ensure each load is secured properly at all times
  • Inspect loads for safe operation before, during and after all transport assignments
  • Complete and submit all required documentation on a timely basis including manifests, logbooks, inspection reports, fuel, credit card and trip records and receipts 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Physically demanding roads and diverse weather
  • Precise and clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Available to work evenings and weekends and on-call
  • Notify Dispatch of any delays, unsafe workplaces, equipment issues or maintenance and operational concerns
  • Complete all waste removal services safely and timely
  • Ensure all waste containers are labeled according to TDG Regulations (wire tie label for Bins, stick-on labels for Drums and Bags in pocket)
  • Ability to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision

We offer a competitive salary of $30-$35/hr. based on experience and benefits after 3 months including RRSP contributions.
